A BILL to amend article three, chapter five-a of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated section seven-a,
relating to prohibiting the acquisition and use of menus on
telephone messaging services by state agencies.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article three, chapter five-a of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
seven-a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. PURCHASING DIVISION.
§5A-3-7a. Acquisition and use of telephonic menus banned.
No contract for the purchase and acquisition of any telephone
messaging service or system
which incorporates a menu reciting
dialing options may be authorized upon the effective date of this section. Beginning on or before the first day of July, two
thousand three, no telephone messaging service or system
incorporating a menu reciting dialing options may be left in
service by any West Virginia state agency, office, department or
division.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to
prohibit the use and
acquisition of menus on telephone messaging services by state
agencies.
